OM Rolls Freight Charges Back to 2007 Prices

La Verne, California – December 09, 2008.
Office Master, Inc., an ergonomic seating manufacturer based in Southern California announced today that, effective December 15 it will be lowering freight charges associated with its “EZ Freight” subsidy program to 2007 levels.

Up until just a few months ago fuel costs had been rising precipitously. It’s no wonder then, that many companies had been forced to raise their shipping charges to accommodate significantly increased shipping costs being passed on by freight companies.

However, with the past few months’ reversal of the skyrocketing fuel price trend – at the time of this writing 1 barrel of “light, sweet crude” was trading at $43.71 per barrel vs. nearly $150 per barrel in June – Office Master has taken the unusual step of lowering its freight charges back to 2007 levels.

“The thinking behind this move,” as Wilson Chow, director of Marketing for Office Master puts it, “is that we know economic times are a bit tougher right now. This, coupled with the fact that a core belief at Office Master has always been to treat our customers as partners, we decided that it was appropriate to give something back.”

“Although fuel prices are somewhat unpredictable the indications seem to be that for at least the next few months, prices will hold steady or even continue declining. Thus, we decided to offer customers some ‘pain relief’ in the form of lower freight charges, rather than simply pocket the savings.”
